Was That Jewellery I saw In That Movie?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Many films have jewellery in them and some are even based upon jewellery. These ones are just some of my favourites.

Titanic

Although this one really isn’t a big favourite of mine, it certainly made an impact on the world when it was first released.

The entire film is set around a company who are after this very valuable blue diamond necklace that is known as the Heart of the Ocean.

Although they made up the story of the diamond it was actually made for the film costing a whopping £10,000.

At the moment it is sitting somwhere in the Fox studios. In the film we see these treasure hunters find a picture of a woman wearing the necklace who they find out to be Rose, she then goes on to tell us her story.

Lord of the Rings

Although this is technically a collection of books, for me the film really showed of the obsession that could be had when it comes to a piece of jewellery. Gollum would actually do anthing in his power to get at the ring, using his famous phrase "my precious" he would even kill to get at it.

The ring was created by the dark lord Sauron many years before the books actually started and once he was killed the ring was then lost for a long period of time until Gollum found it and murdered his best friend over it.

Gollum suffered a fate much worse than death as his body was slowly trasnformed from normal hobbit to creature over a period of 500 years, after this Bilbo Baggins stole the ring from him. This is where we first see the characters.

The brilliant Indiana Jones

The brilliant Indiana Jones is of course famous for treasure hunting but does it for the benefit of the museum over himself~Of course everyone knows that Indiana Jones is famous for his treasure hunting skills, however he does it for the museum~Although Henry Jones Jr or Indiana Jones is famous for his treasure hunting he always does it to take back to a museum of some kind,}. The real question is, will Ford pick up the role for another time? Fans are hoping his son doesnt take over because that would be really bad.

If you are a fan of jewellery then it could be worth looking into buying some silver jewellery, silver pendants or even some of those silver bracelets.

How To Shop For A Diamond Necklace

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Whether you want to get a Journey diamond necklace or any other type, there are a few tips that are going to be helpful for you and ensure that you make the best purchase here. More than anything there are the four C’s to buying a diamond necklace that you want to be aware of, and that will help you build a decent knowledge base so that you will be less confused and more alert.

Diamond Necklace Cut

The first of the four C’s is cut. When you are looking for a diamond necklace you have to be aware of the cut. This does not refer to the shape of the diamond but instead its reflective qualities. For a diamond necklace you are going to have to be aware of the cut, as this is perhaps the most important of all the four C’s.

When a diamond is well cut, the light will enter through the table and travel to the pavilion and then reflect back out the other side. Therefore, when you find a well cut diamond, it will be very brilliant and reflective.

Diamond Necklace Clarity

Next is the clarity of the diamond, which you also want to be aware of when buying a diamond necklace. Diamonds are graded for clarity under 10x loupe magnification, and you want to be mindful of the defects in a diamond. The fewer flaws there are, the more expensive it is going to be.

Color Diamond Necklace
The color is very important, and this is most on personal preference. The colorless diamonds are still the most popular although other colors are quickly gaining in popularity including yellow and pink. It really all depends on what color you like, but be aware that the colorless diamonds are those which are most reflective of light.

Diamond Necklace Carat Weight

Finally when purchasing a diamond necklace you are going to need to find out the carat weight. A carat is the unit of weight by which a diamond is measured and keep in mind that because large diamonds are found less commonly than the smaller diamonds, they are more valuable.

Besides learning about the four C’s, another important step to take is to ask the jeweler that you are doing business with to offer you the diamond piece’s certificate.

This is very important information, all of which is going to be extremely helpful in assisting you when you are out choosing a diamond piece. The more educated that you are the better off and less confused you are going to be.

Where To Go For Purchasing Jewelry

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

If you are like most men, chances are at some point in your life you will find yourself purchasing jewelry for a woman. Most women love jewelry, and many men see it as the perfect gift for nearly any special occasion. Before the relationship is serious, the man can purchase small jewelry gifts to win the woman’s affection. After the relationship becomes serious, many men continue to purchase jewelry gifts to bring a smile to their special someone’s face or to celebrate a special occasion.

What Jewelry To Purchase

When purchasing jewelry for someone else, it is important to take into consideration a few things. First, what does your special someone already have in her jewelry box? If, for example, she has a set of diamond earrings that simply sit there and are never worn, chances are she does not want another pair that closely resembles those earrings. Instead, look at what she does wear. Does she wear drop earrings or post earrings? If she seems to opt drop earrings, you could easily buy her a set of diamond drop earrings that would be simply stunning. Or, if she prefers post earrings, there are countless different styles and colors for diamond post earrings.

Second, you must take into account the personality of your special someone. While nearly every woman would love to have more diamond jewelry, there are some women who do not like diamonds for various reasons. If your special someone does not like the way that diamonds are mined or how the people who mine them are treated, look for diamonds that are mined in a more humane manner. If she basically does not like diamonds at all, try another precious gem or stone. You could find almost any piece of jewelry with a ruby or sapphire instead of a diamond.

Where To Purchase Jewelry

While you may think that it does not matter where you purchase jewelry, it actually does matter. Though a diamond is a diamond, you are going to find much better quality diamonds at higher quality stores. There is a reason that the diamond necklace is priced lower at a department store than at a jewelry store. If you want a high quality piece of jewelry and are willing to pay a decent amount of money for it, look at jewelry stores, not department stores. Plus, when your special someone sees the box and where it is from, she will know that you really took time and consideration to purchase her a quality piece of jewelry.
